Re/Max real estate agents from across Canada raised an unprecedented $3.5
million for Children’s Miracle Network, representing 14 member children’s
hospitals and foundations across Canada, in 2006. The contribution topped
the previous year’s donation of just over $3.1 million – an increase of 13 per
cent. The Canadian contribution represented 32 per cent of the $11 million
Re/max donated throughout North America last year. The proceeds were generated by agents holding fundraising events and the Re/Max Miracle Home
program, in which associates make a donation on behalf of each transaction.
With over two million children in need annually, hospitals require our support
more than ever before” says Christine Martysiewicz, director of public
relations, Re/Max Ontario-Atlantic Canada. “There is comfort in knowing that
our sales associates are helping to improve children’s health care each and
every time they sell a home”.
Alison Bloetjes, director at the Children’s Miracle Network, says “Each
Region, Re/Max Western Canada, Re/Max Ontario-Atlantic and Re/Max Quebec have broken through the $1 million level in donations in 2006. This is
an incredible testament to the Realtors, brokers and staff. Children’s Miracle
Network and its member hospitals are grateful to Re/Max, a long standing
partner since 1992. Since then, Re/Max in Canada has generated over $24
million for Children in need of critical care at our 14 member hospitals.”
