Our Community
As residents of this area for many years, we have found that the
Kennisis Lake / Redstone Lake area is a strong community with many
things to offer, whether living here year-round or seasonal. Friends and
neighbours are created and cherished in this community, and it is our
hopes that you too will find a "place" among us.
One of the best features of this area is that Haliburton Forest &
Wildlife Centre backs on to most of Kennisis & Redstone Lakes. This offers natural
surrounding and protection from backlots; thus keeping the
value of our properties
up. At the same time it offers many attractions for us to enjoy.
The newest is the Submarine that is now available on site. This is a
great new attraction and there isn’t anything quite like the feeling
that comes with this activity.
The “Walk in the Clouds” feature is a treat for young and old.
The education and scenery from one of these excursions is exceptional.
The “Wolf Centre” is home to a pack of Wolves that live within the
15 Acre compound. Education and excitement are mixed when visitors
experience this feature.
Winter Activities include Dog Sledding. There are over 100 dogs at
the Kennels and they love to run. There are separate trails away from
most of the snowmobile trails.
The Snowmobiling trails are our favourites. Several times in the
Winter we go into
"the Forest" and stop at one of the 5 open to the public cabins where
we warm up at the woodstove provided and BBQ dinner or Lunch. What a
wonderful way to socialize, spend family time and enjoy
nature. Winter in Haliburton
offers many spectacular sights. The snow is clean and fun to play in.
There is also Mountain Biking and Fishing and Camping to mention a few.
Come and experience Haliburton "Forest” for yourself. At the end
of the day you can feast at the “Cookhouse” a Full Service
Restaurant and grocery store.
Summer time offers other great opportunities including the "School
of Fine Arts" in the town of Haliburton. This program offers a wide
variety of craft, art, computer and daycare programs to choose from. It
is widely renowned and many great Artisans teach there. They offer
weeklong courses.
The Redstone Lake Cottagers Association and the Kennisis Lake Cottage
Owners Association are strong and active groups here. For minimal yearly
fees we have our water tested, Fireworks, and a Volunteer Fire Dept. to
mention a very few of their efforts. See Links in our Links
Section.
